Selling at the POS

Open a shift, take an order, take the payment, follow the kitchen, and close the shift.

  1. 01Sign in and open a shiftSign in to the POS with your email and password, start the branch's business day, then open your shift with an opening float to start selling, and record what goes into and out of the drawer.
  2. 02Take an order at the POSPick items with their size, quantity and note, manage the cart, hold the order or set its type and delivery app, then go to payment.
  3. 03Apply discounts and couponsA bill comes down at the POS in three ways only: a coupon code, an automatic offer, or loyalty points. There is no manual discount, and a code never combines with an offer on one order.
  4. 04Take payment for an orderOn the payment screen, choose cash, card on the branch's terminal, Instapay, a split between cash and one other method, or a gift card that covers the whole bill, then confirm.
  5. 05Sell and accept gift cardsSell a gift card for cash on the Gift cards screen, look up its balance and history, and accept it as payment when it covers the whole bill.
  6. 06Print receipts and read order numbersAfter you confirm payment, the Order created screen shows the order number, and you print the receipt and kitchen ticket from it yourself. Numbers start at #1 with every shift by default, and an admin can change their format.
  7. 07Follow orders, cancel them or record a returnThe Orders screen shows the branch's orders for today. A cancellation takes the order out of sales and puts its stock back; a return records only the reason and any wasted ingredients. There are no partial refunds, and neither moves cash out of the drawer by itself.
  8. 08Close the shift and print the Z-reportCount the cash in the drawer, enter the card-terminal and Instapay totals if you wish, give a reason if the variance is over the limit, then confirm the close to see the shift's Z-report.
  9. 09Follow orders on the kitchen displayThe kitchen display shows the branch's active orders in columns, colours tickets by how long they have waited, and chimes for every new order. Move each order one step forward until it is handed over.
  10. 10Handle an internet dropThe POS needs its connection to the server to record any order, so there is no offline selling. But the cart stays on the device, an order isn't duplicated when you retry, and the kitchen display catches up when the connection returns.
